Sandy Neck Beach
Sandy Neck Beach is the perfect summer time location for those who seek the warmth, fun and little sand between their toes.
Sandy Neck Beach holds a very special place in my heart.
For as long as I can remember, my family has been taking the trip over the Bourne Bridge, and into the heart of the Cape. Route 6 traffic would be backed up for miles with people doing the very same thing as we were. Getting away from the every day stresses of life and driving towards the promising relaxation of a beach. Not just any beach though, Sandy Neck Beach is unique in it’s ability to allow ORV (off road vehicles) to drive out onto the beach itself, whether just for the day, or, with a self contained camper, for the night! Imagine falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to a new and brighter than life sun?
This is how my family would spend most of our summers. Out on the beaches of Sandy Neck, combing the beach for miles in search of sea glass, playing ladder ball, swimming, lounging and cooking marshmallows by the campfire (yes, a campfire! After 7:00pm, you are allowed to have a camp fire and the beach lights up with little blazes as far as the eye can see!) And then the moon comes out.. two moons! One peeks up over the water to the East, and it’s twin is reflected on the ocean as it moves across the sky.
So yes, Sandy Neck has a solid place in my top 10 favorite photoshoot locations.
I learned very early on that this would be a special, VIP experience for my clients to enjoy. I maintain that very special permit that allows me to drive my clients right out onto Sandy Neck Beach. What does this mean for you? A VIP experience you won’t get on any other beach! We can drive for miles along the sand to find a perfect spot, or hop out and utilize an array of spots! If you can tear your eyes away from the horizon for a moment, turn around and check out the hiking trails that Sandy Neck Beach offers. They wind through the dunes with beautiful spots around every bend. For the extra ambitious folks, there lies a lighthouse at the very end of the six mile long stretch of beach. It would be a crowning jewel to your session who dares to make the trek. Hikes not you thing? Not to worry! There are plenty of photo opportunities on Sandy Neck Beach that require no more from you than stepping out of the car and onto the sand.
Sessions I have done on Sandy Neck Beach.
I have done countless session on Sandy Neck Beach. It proves to be the dominant location for senior portraits year after year. You just can’t beat the beachy waves, splashing in the water and walking into the sunset. I can recall one year, as I was driving my senior out onto the beach for their session, we passed American Eagle themselves having a photoshoot on the beach! There were make-up tents set up, bonfires going and the perfect beach party vibe going on. My client was over the moon about their decision to have their session on Sandy Neck Beach! (And certainly kept an eye out for an American Eagle advertisement that showcased their very own portrait location..)
When is Sandy Neck Beach open?
Sandy Neck Beach is open year round with changing hours, or, a “curfew”. If you were interested in having a session on the beach, we would need to assess the hours and restrictions for each particular date. During their off season the parking lot is free to park in, allowing you to leave your vehicle and hop into my ORV permitted vehicle for the beach driving. While it is in season, there is a $20 parking fee to use their parking lot.
